Yay! My favourite day, my lucky day, the day of my birth (although it was in May, not January, but it was the 13th and it was a Friday). It’s also Make Your Dreams Come True Day, Poetry Break Day, and Blame Somebody Else Day.
Hmmph. That last one is every day of the year, isn’t it? It should be. I used to wonder, when I was very young and wondered about a lot of strange things, why Thursday the 12th and Saturday the 14th weren’t equally as “unlucky”. And how come an orange cat isn’t as scary as a black one, since both of those are Hallowe’en colors. There are still no really convincing answers to these questions.
I think I was 13 when I decided that 13 was a good number to have as a lucky favourite one. Perhaps other Friday the 13th children have done similar things. And perhaps a great many of them have gotten over it all by now, but I never really have.
Today I purchased yet another book shelf. This is getting to be a chronic compulsion. Check back in a year or two to find out if every wall in my house is covered in book cases. No, really, I think this will be the last one for awhile. I also found some sleepwear that isn’t ridiculously ugly (by my standards anyway). There were NO line ups at the registers! This morning I hit the green light exactly right to merge into traffic on a busy road. I handed in my stupid self evaluation. Our doctor day was cancelled due to lack of interest, so I got all my work done in a timely manner. Tonight I can stay up all night if I feel like it because I have the next two days off. There is still no snow to speak of, and the temperature has yet to drop. We had left-overs in the fridge from last night that I warmed up for tonight’s meal, so I didn’t have to cook anything when I got home. My internet connection is alive and well. Sounds like a damned fine lucky day to me.
Now if I can just get some dream or other to come true and find some decent poetry to read, I guess I could die blissfully happy.
Except I have to put those shelves together first, so I’m not ready to go just yet. And there’s a couple more Friday the 13ths coming up in April and July. It’s a bumper year for them! I’d like to stick around for a whole bunch more. You can never have too many lucky days.
