A Moving Movie

“Why can’t I have a normal boyfriend? Just a regular boyfriend, one that doesn’t go nuts on me!”

“Everybody wants that, dear. It doesn’t exist.”

Friendships blossom in the most bizarre circumstances, and between the most unlikely people. I love a movie that portrays characters who are more dysfunctional than I am myself. Who would believe it possible to feel sympathetic towards a racist, homophobic, obsessive compulsive, anti-Semitic, misanthropic jerk with a bad case of germophobia? Jack Nicholson can play the most obnoxious characters, and somehow still manage to make you like him. Helen Hunt was brilliant in this movie, and Greg Kinnear is consistently awesome.

I also love a movie that makes me laugh, and the interaction amongst the three main characters, especially on their road trip, was priceless.

Last but not least, who does not love a happy ending?

If you’ve ever wondered “what if this is as good as it gets?” you should see this movie.
