A Nano Poblano Prompt: Make up a new holiday
Holidays should be declared here every time we get heavily snowed upon. Here’s the blurb from Environment Canada this morning:
Snowfall Warning: Heavy snowfall today and tonight.
10 cm of snow has already fallen in Grande Prairie and another 15-25 cm is expected by Sunday morning.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
Exactly who is that last paragraph addressing? People on holiday, visiting from Mars?
I had already decided to stay longer since the kids have Monday and Tuesday off school, and it’s a great feeling not to have to rush home for anything. Anyway, snow days as holidays! That’s my suggestion. So, basically, nothing but intermittent scattered holidays from November to March.
Hope everyone is having a super fun weekend, snowed in or not.
England would grind to a halt with that much snow… we get so little here and complain about almost all of it.

There’s no shortage of complaining here either, even though we know to expect this kind of weather every winter. The smarter ones amongst us head south. 🙂

I’m always more likely to head north… snow or not 🙂

Wonderful snow. We don’t get that much but we did have a treat last year. Stay warm and cozy and enjoy those grand kids.

The funny thing is, they were out playing in it most of the day! Don’t worry, I stay where it’s warm.

While I was working, I thought we should take off all religious holidays by following the Wiccan calendar. As you know this pretty much gives us a holiday every month. Even Groundhog Day which is also a Saint’s Day.

Great idea. We should all be respectful of other peoples holidays and help them celebrate. Rude not to, right?

I think creating something is a great way to express yourself. Or just happily pass the time. I hope they never outgrow the habit.

He is thirteen, so he’s been making works of art for thirteen years. 🙂 I’m his grandma, which is why I know that.

Snowy days as holidays is absolutely right. It’s what snow was designed for! Possibly add bright sunny days, too… (we don’t often get too many of either in England, so it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch…) 🙂
