I was going to make a list of all the things that are just so incredibly wrong with this vintage ad, but rather than stay up until midnight doing that, I decided to fix it up instead.
In her next speech bubble our lady of the initial-shouting-words makes everything right by telling us this.
Don’t come to the wrong conclusion! Read on to discover the three things thousands of skinny girls have learned!

Ironized yeast tastes pretty disgusting.

People who catch a glimpse of you and immediately run away have far more serious problems than you do.

No matter how much weird shit we choose to consume in the interests of altering our physical appearance, it’s almost certainly guaranteed that in just a few weeks, these three guys will still be assholes.
Yes to all three! Also thank you for posting this. I love looking at old advertisements. Sometimes you just have to laugh at them.

Yes you do. It beats getting mad or crying. 😊I follow an “all things vintage” page on Facebook and some of the stuff they post defies comment.

I remember seeing the original ad back in the day and thinking pretty much the same thing.

Wow, so glad to hear that because I saw some ads for Breck shampoo and Mabeline I’m sure I’ve seen before! I guess we are both vintage too. lol

Okay, then, I’m thinking you remember this tv ad for ??? where a guy shouts out: “Don’t let them call YOU skinny.”
Geesh.

I don’t remember it, but we didn’t have tv until I was nine, and then only one channel. I grew up reading comic book ads! There’s another subject altogether. 🤔

LOVE your modifications. If I ruled the world, Madison Ave would be bulldozed.

Yes !!! Somewhere in my blogging past, I wrote about these same “Don’t be Skinny” ads. For me, Twiggy arrived just in time for my teen years. 💘

I loved Twiggy but there wasn’t a hope in hell that I could ever look like her. I was smart enough not to try too hard except for the mini skirts that were impossible to gracefully sit down in. Ah, the good old days. lol

Great old vintage ad with horrible sentiments. I like your version much better. Now taste has gone the other way and you can’t be too skinny apparently but the advertising is more subtle. I remember my mum and aunts taking Ford Pills to lose weight as early as the late sixties.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all get over our body image obsessions and let people simply be who they are. Fashion magazines full of beauty product ads just make me sad.

It would be nice and I agree many women’s magazines just exist by making readers feel bad about themselves because they are not perfect.
