Letters to WYA 4

It’s a lovely windy afternoon here in suburbia land where the snow mould spores are flying about in the air giving me yet another excellent reason for staying inside with the little air purifier slogging away. I have many other excuses too numerous to get into all at once. I prefer plucking a random one out of my head as required.

Instead of staring off into space while I wait for bunny time (only a hard core Hay Day addict will appreciate what a real and serious thing that is) I am breaking my ”no blogging on Tuesdays” rule because I am bored and thought you might like to experience the ennui with me. See how I’m always thinking of you?

I have also been thinking about song lyrics.

Love is but a song we sing
Fear’s the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why

I read those words thinking they were quite lovely and having no clue they came from the Get Together song by Youngbloods from the sixties.

… Come on, people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

Yeah! that one. Those four lines are the ones they repeat over and over thus the only lyrics and tune that stuck in my head. For over 50 years shockingly enough. Anyway I googled the rest of the lyrics to discover they’re quite lovely too.

… Some may come and some may go
He will surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment’s sunlight
Fading in the grass

… If you hear the song I sing
You will understand,
You hold the key to love and fear
All in your trembling hand
Just one key unlocks them both
It’s there at your command

Well that filled up a lovely bunch of space with not too much effort. Now for the real test – a couple of questions requiring actual thinking on our part.

What gets you fired up?

What do you do to deal with stress?

I get fired up by idiotic tweets posted by insane morons. I deal with the stress by getting the hell off Twitter.

Hmmmmph. Too easy. I will try harder next time, promise. And I will try harder to smile on my brother and love one another, right now. If I can’t do that there’s always the block button, right? Have a stress-free rest of the day, however you make it happen.

  1. (I am liking this “Letters” idea of yours!) Answers to your questions: What fires me up? Drivers who stay on my (speed limit+) rear bumper throughout the downtown area until one of us turns. What do I do to deal with stresses? Sometimes I slam on my brakes when least expected (I’m fully insured). 😉
    I love that Youngbloods’ song.
Last, I’ve Googled fruitlessly: What is “bunny time” and what is “Hay Day”?

    • I think how discourteous and rude a person is translates into their driving just like any other social situation. If it escalates to road rage it’s reason to stress indeed. Hay Day is an on line farming game I’ve been playing for years. Sorry for the confusion. You can just ignore that part. lol😛

    • Oh gawd, so do I. Some days the air in here is blue with it. My mother would be so sad that I can’t think of better words. My dad would laugh. Because really, sometimes “Oh my goodness!” just doesn’t cut it.

  2. Hahah, I am with you about twitter. I am not on twitter, but I often see screenshots on other social media. Also, facebook commenters fire me up something terrible. But what fires me up the most is prejudice from real life every day people. To deal with stress, I know how to relax, which is a good thing I suppose. I escape into books, find some nature to breathe in, do some painting – yes even amid the chaos of kids creating a raucous – pockets of peace can be found. Sanity must be grasped, even if one is clinging on for dear life. The lyrics are quite lovely – I must admit I had to google what bunny time was and since that did not yield any results, I had to look up Hay Day, lol. I initially thought it had something to do with Easter 🙂
