(Umbrella –  by Existrance/deviant art)

This is where I come to talk to myself by dredging up an old photograph or a memory and beating it to death with my keyboard.  One day all this blather will be treasured by my progeny.   Deluded as that notion might be, it’s what keeps me here.  Just to clarify things a little, no part of my past or present life was ever spent actually living on a sidewalk.  Life in the fast lane would have been a big fat lie;  life on a skinny railing high above the railroad tracks with an umbrella at dawn – damn.  Didn’t think of that one fast enough.  But it’s sometimes how life feels.  Precariously tense,  but insanely fun.

“I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing.” (Agatha Christie)

  2. Well well well… clearly people dig you and I’m not the first to nominate you for an award. The Very Inspiring Blogger Award. you’re established and i love your style and i want more people i know to know about you so i’m awarding you the “Versatile Blogger” award. participate if you wish; it’s a little creepy-chain-maily, so don’t if you’re busy with a real life … like i was before i had the awards bestowed upon me. i’d not participate but i’m actually having a good time with the award today – i’m visiting some great blogs again now that summer’s over; soon this post will be over and i will be able to write other things. i hope you are well. -molly

      • Well, re: “I think mostly because it’s from you!” i am deeply touched. I am flattered and humbled. Thank you. I loved what you said about Kristen Stewart’s expression on the DVD cover. Does she ever smile? Really, ever smile? I read a cover story about her in Vanity Fair over the summer and she’s sorta sullen all the time. Some people… maybe she’ll figure it out one day. xoxo

  3. Just discovered you today, through Molly/Grass Oil – love what I’ve read so far, and look forward to exploring more. I’m very curious about your former (?) blog about you and your sister, too. I’m afraid I don’t have any grandchildren material to contribute, being single and childless, but if that Agatha Christie quote is any sign, I think I’ll do just fine hanging around here! Nice to “meet” you! And thanks, Molly!

      • There’s never enough time, is there? I’m trying now to settle into a more productive schedule of writing and blogging, and it’s not easy! Gravatar – I’m sure I need to update that, too – I get so confused with all these different ways of interacting on blogs! I have 3 or 4 “identities” now, and it drives me crazy!!

        Be well!

  11. “Grandmalin”? Pourquoi tu n’est pas “Grandemaline”? Whichever, you have a most interesting face: it reminds me of … I don’t know, more than one person I’ve known, I think. You are indeed “un malin” to be blogging for the next generations of your family; but it certainly look as though they aren’t the only ones to be interested. My compliments!

  12. Hi,

I’ve been talking to Thomas Marlowe and we are both missing the Trifecta Challenge. One thing led to another and we have decided to set up Light and Shade Challenge where there are prompts twice every week and a chance to share what inspiration strikes.

We are not trying to be the same as Trifecta. They were awesome and I miss them. We do have some really exciting ideas of our own, though and can’t wait to see what happens. It would be great if you could come and join us and see where this journey takes us. Good writers are always welcome. If you have any questions then get in touch either on the Light and Shade Challenge Blog http://lightandshadechallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ or on the Facebook page. It would be wonderful to hear from you.
