This night nurse pic is what came up when I went to Google and typed in marvel comics followed by my name. Best. Result. Ever. Facebook told me to do it. Now I’m telling you. Listen to the freaky night nurse.

Share Your World – July 24, 2017

List some of your favorites types of teas.

The idea of tea is lovely.  Tea and scones, lemon tea, tea time, cozy tea room, take a tea break, iced tea on a hot day, curl up with a good book and a hot cup of tea.  But to actually brew a pot of the vile stuff and drink it, eww, yuk.  There’s something metallic or acidic about it that I don’t like.  It’s okay to scent candles with or to make shampoo smell nice.  Otherwise I avoid it.

If you had to describe your day as a traffic sign, what would it be?

IMG_3118

This one looks like a normal day for me. It basically means “do you have any idea where the hell you’re going?”

What are a couple of things people could do for you on a really bad day that would really help you?

Well they could just sit there with concerned looks on their faces and listen to me rant.  That would be helpful, no advice or solutions necessary.  They could also offer me coffee or chocolate.  Or large sums of money.  Things like that tend to improve my mood.

Regardless of your physical fitness, coordination or agility: If you could be an athlete what would you do? Remember this is SYW, dreaming is always allowed.

The first me-being-athletic thing that pops in to my head is long distance or marathon runner.  Which is pretty funny considering how most days I have trouble motivating myself to walk around the block.  But think of the cool spandex clothes and awesome shoes and sweaty headbands.  Pulling muscles.  Collapsing over the finish line.

Maybe baseball would be a more sane choice for me.  Pinch hitter.  Smacking out spectacular home runs followed by leisurely jaunts around the bases and congratulatory high fives.  I could do that.  (In my dreams.) (You did say dreaming was okay.)  A nightmare on the other hand would be jumping off a diving board head first into deep water.  Who in their right mind thinks that’s a good idea.

Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Yesterday I was SO SMART taking advantage of the sunshine to mow the lawn.  It’s been pouring rain ever since and generally cold and windy and miserable.  Definitely not marathon running weather.

I’m looking forward to going north for a visit with family on the weekend.  And then the return home mid August of W who is closing up the cottage early this year mostly I think because he is bored being on his own so much.  Well of course there’s more issues than that.  I wonder if he’s tried overdosing on chocolate.  Probably not. Sounds like something the night nurse might recommend.

Really Rudolph?

Amazon just sent me an email saying based on my recent activity perhaps I might be interested in this –

img_2867Holy.  Should I buy one?  It’s only CDN $6.95.

I’m trying to think what kind of activity I was involved in for them to come to this conclusion.

Behold the roomy rudolf tea strainer in raspberry red.  Perhaps I searched for an item beginning with the letter R.

Although my sinuses are happy I’m drinking hot water laced with lemon and Truvia at the moment, normally I am just another coffee addict with no love for anything even vaguely similar to tea.

And this does not look like Rudolph.  It very suspiciously resembles a moose.

I’m afraid Amazon will just have to try harder to get me to part with seven bucks.

It’s a black and white world out there today….

Share Your World 2015 Week  43

If you were on a debate team, what general subject would you relish debating?

If I were on a debate team, the rest of the team would kick me off.  I do not relish debating of any kind.  I don’t like to listen to people argue and it makes me uncomfortable when opposing views lead to heated exchanges.  I am blessed/cursed with being able to see both sides of the story.  This is not to say I don’t have informed (and in some cases no doubt misguided) opinions about things, but I rarely feel the need to shove my beliefs down someone else’s throat.  I am the peacekeeper, planted firmly on the fence.

What’s your strongest sense?

Well it sure isn’t my hearing.  Another reason why debating is not my thing.  I would misinterpret the arguments and call the opposite side idiots.  I don’t think you get points for that.

My sense of smell is pretty good.  Especially if something is burning, I’m likely to notice it before anyone else does.

What would you name the autobiography of your life?

Blessed and Cursed:  My Life on the Fence

List your favorite flavors or types of tea.

I don’t like to be all negative in a post, but I hate tea even more than I hate debating.  It doesn’t matter how you try to dress it up with different flavours, it’s still tea.  I quite like teapots though.  Not everything about tea is bad.

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for my appointment with the Primary Care nurse and for all the information and advice she gave me about diabetes.  She drew on a white board with dry erase markers (this appealed to the artist in me I guess) pictures of the liver, the pancreas, and a big fat blood cell or artery or something.  Glucose was represented by little red X’s and insulin by little green triangles.  Then there were many arrows pointing in every which direction.  Now I understand why my fasting blood sugar readings are consistently high in the morning even though I have not been sleep walking/eating during the night.

Activity and weight loss are the magic words here, along with the medication which is supposed to make my liver and pancreas less confused.  The nurse had more medically relevant terminology for the process.  I am really starting to enjoy my walks now, since they involve less huffing and puffing and gasping and cursing under my breath.  Or lack thereof.  And I have changed my eating habits so that I eat all three meals and two snacks, so it feels like I’m doing nothing but eating all day long.  This makes not eating anything after 6:00 p.m. a piece of cake.  So to speak.

W has his hip surgery next week.  Both of us will be grateful to have that behind us.

Oh yeah….Halloween is tomorrow.  W bought enough mini chocolate bars to last us for the next six Halloween nights.  He says it is because he hates to run out, although I’m not sure how he knows what that feels like because we NEVER run out.  Ever.

Amazingly enough I have not been tempted by them.  My taste buds are not grateful for that, but I’m pretty sure my liver is.

Happy Halloween (in case I don’t make it back here tomorrow to say that).   Hope you’ve had a great week.

Share Your World – 2014 Week 49

What is your preferred hot drink: coffee, tea, water, hot chocolate, or other?

Coffee addict here.  Start, spend and end my day with some form of it or another.  I love the idea of a cup of tea, or afternoon tea, or a tea party, and I’ve tried to like tea itself,  but I just can’t do it.   Plain hot water would be preferable to any kind of tea, no matter what blend or flavour you try to tempt me with or whatever wonderful things you add to it.  Hot chocolate is okay, but generally too sweet.  I went through a stage at work once drinking nothing but mochas (half coffee and half hot chocolate) but I’m a coffee purist at heart.  Whatever that is.  Probably made it up.

What was your favorite toy as a child . . . and now?

One Christmas I asked for a black baby.  This was in the early 1950’s when I was three or four.  I don’t know where the idea came from, but there was nothing I wanted more and Santa must have known that because he delivered.  Yay!  She was the most beautiful doll I’d ever seen, with her black hair and chocolate face and little red and white checkered dress.  I must have loved her to pieces, because I don’t know what became of her.  All my Christmases have been pretty much down hill since that one.

Now my favourite toy is my I-Pad.  I use it so much that sometimes I have to recharge it during the day if I want to watch NetFlix on it later.  The corners of the cover are starting to fray and the rubbery stuff is peeling off at the edges and the screen is filthy most of the time.  It’s like having a little mini computer permanently attached to my right arm.  It is well-worn and much-loved.  But not quite to pieces yet.

Candy factories of the entire world have become one and will now be making only one kind of candy. Which kind, if you were calling the shots?

Oh gawd, I don’t care.  Something with vegetables in it that tastes disgusting so I won’t be tempted to eat it.  But do you know how sad this world would be without Mars Bars?  Pretty damned sad.

Would you want $100,000 right now or $120,000 in a year (tax Free)?

I’ll take it now, please.  Who knows how many buses I could get run over by in the next 365 days?

Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Last week was a rather lazy one for me, not unlike all the other weeks of my entire life.  However, I am getting things ready and organized for Christmas this week.  We will be travelling north and spending time with kids and grandkids and grand dogs.  I’m grateful for the weather staying less than horrible.  I can’t say it’s good, because it IS winter after all.  It’s less than a week to go to the shortest day of the year.  And before we know it, 2014 will be over and gone.  Just like the remaining hours of this day.  Those gifts are not going to wrap themselves.  Guess what I’m doing next.  If I had that hundred grand I bet I’d seriously consider paying somebody to do it for me.

Coffee or Tea?

I’m going to drive my old jaloffey

Down the road to Manderhoffie

Where I’ll buy a cup of coffee

In a shoppe that’s called Gaddafi

It will taste of cream and toffee –

Never floffy, tart or doffy.

It will make me feel quite boffy!

Hoffy, poffy, and yumoffy!

They do make the best damned coffee

In the town of Manderhoffie.

Though their tea is quite put offey.
